Pavan: Sicut Aquilae (As of Eagles) was inspired by text from Isaiah 40 "They shall rise up with wings as of eagles" and was written to mark the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. It was first performed by the Central Band of the RAF in Westminster Abbey and broadcast live on BBC1 television.
