The tranquillity and wistfulness of Gaelic song have always appealed to me and they are what I try to capture in this oboe solo. I love writing for the oboe as a solo instrument and perhaps the best compliment I have received is from an oboe soloist who described this as: ‘Not bad for a trombone player’!
