The English patriotic song Here's a Health unto His Majesty was composed by Jeremiah Savile and was first published in John Playford's The Musical Companion in 1667.
Although the title specifies ‘His Majesty’ it seemed appropriate to adapt it for Her Majesty the Queen. This concert opener re-works the tune in a number of rhythmic ways to provide an exciting start to a programme.
