2 o’clock Jump has a twelve bar blues structure and is loosely based on One o’clock Jump – the Count Basie standard of 1937. Harry James wrote 2 o’clock Jump in 1939 and it was to become his own theme tune. Frank Sinatra reckoned that, by 1975, James was up to his 15,000th version of ‘Jump’!
This arrangement features the whole trumpet section and utilises some of the most famous ‘Jamesian’ riffs, particularly the descending triplets.
